Project Description: Sealing bare wood with a sanding sealer before finishing results in a smoother, more even-looking surface. Plus, sealed wood requires fewer finish coats and much less work to look even and free of blemishes. When applied as a pre-finish sanding sealer, Bulls Eye SealCoat prepares new or previously finished interior wood surfaces for any oil-base or acrylic-base polyurethane, varnish or lacquer topcoat. |

| Project Steps: |
| Step 1 - Prepare the Surface |
Sand surface thoroughly with 150 grit sandpaper or sanding sponge. If applying a clear finish, fill nail holes, cracks and gouges with a wood filler that closely matches the color of the wood. When dry and hard, sand surface smooth.
If staining the wood, apply stain according to manufacturer’s instructions and allow to dry. Use a wood filler that closely matches the color of the stained wood to fill nail holes, cracks and gouges. Remove all dust with a vacuum, a tack cloth or a rag dampened with mineral spirits.
NOTE: Certain woods, like oak and mahogany, have numerous open pores in the surface that can create an uneven finish appearance. To achieve a glassy-smooth finish on these woods fill the pores with a paste filler. When properly applied and sanded, a pore filler will leave the surface silky smooth.

| Step 2 - Apply SealCoat |
Transfer a small quantity of Bulls Eye SealCoat into a separate container and apply evenly and consistently to the surface using a brush or lint-free cloth. Let dry 45 minutes before sanding with 120 grit or finer sandpaper. Remove all dust and proceed to Step 3, or apply an optional coat of SealCoat to improve film build and give added depth to the final finish. Allow second coat to dry 1 hour before sanding lightly and applying finish coat.
|
| Step 3 - Apply Finish of Your Choice |
Transfer a small quantity of finish into a separate container and apply to the sealed surface following manufacturer’s instructions. For the professional looking results, allow the first coat of finish to dry thoroughly—overnight if necessary – then lightly buff with a ScotchBrite® pad, remove all dust and apply a second finish coat.
*Tip from the Experts: If you wish to return any leftover shellac or clear finish to the original product container filter out any foreign particles by pouring the liquid through a paint strainer or a few layers of cheesecloth to contamination.
